A collection from a do-nothing kind of day.
First off, we've gotten into the habit of watching the morning news on Q13 Fox News - This Morning. It's a fun show and, as much as you can, we've become acquainted with the This Morning newscast crew.
There's Bill Wixey and Liz Dueweke on the desk while Kaci Aitchison who is, as she states it, "a story teller in the city" she grew up in (she's also a Husky) reports on the human-interest stories and Adam Gehrke does an admirable job as the traffic reporter. They're all good at their jobs and entertaining to watch.
Then, on the weather, is M.J. McDermott. She's very capable and, obviously, has a keen eye and an even keener appreciation for great photography.
Every day she features several weather related photos during her broadcast and so I finally accepted her invitation to submit one of my photos for her consideration for her report.
And, surprise of surprises, she liked it and I got this nice e-mail note from her letting me know when it would be aired.

Hello Jack:
Great photo! I’d like to show it on TV, and I’ve scheduled it for Friday morning, January 2nd, around 8:05-8:15 a.m. (barring any unforeseen breaking news).

Thanks for contributing to our show! And thanks for watching!
GO HAWKS!

So I was ready this morning with my camera and, BAM!!
Here it is . . .
Here's M.J. telling us how good the weather is going to be next week.
Oh, it's getting closer, I can tell!!
And, POW!!
There it is!!
Here's M.J. admiring my work and commenting on the sky over CenturyLink Stadium.
Hahaha, it was fun!!
Yes, folks!! I am 'Jack in Seattle!!'
Whew!!
How can you possibly hope to top something as fun as that?
It's hard, but I did.
This afternoon I found some time in my ridiculously busy schedule to do a little artwork, courtesy of the Seattle Times. They published this 'Build your own Russell Wilson Action Figure' supplement in today's edition.
Challenge accepted!!
And here he is!!
Danger-Russ Wilson!!
There's Danger-Russ looking good as he celebrates his team's winning the Lombardi Trophy . . .
. . . or, maybe, is it possible? Is he celebrating winning the XLIX Super Bowl in Phoenix, Arizona!?!?!
Maybe!! Just maybe!!
Gooooo, 'Hawks!!
In fact, they're running another contest to get the best picture of Danger-Russ's little Action Figure. They had one last year and got some pretty creative and imaginative pictures.
Like this one of Danger-Russ celebrating his Super Bowl Victory in Hawaii.
In case you haven't noticed, last year's action figure was in the blue uniform and this year's is in white. Plus there's that little Lombardi Trophy, too. That's new.
Hahahahahaha!!!
So, you got any ideas for an award-winning shot?
From the fun of 'This Morning' and Danger-Russ we have to go back to some hard reality.
On New Year's Eve, around 2000, a young 20-year old man was shot and killed about 150 feet from where we live.
It's a crazy world. The police are investigating it as a gang-related drive-by shooting.
On New Year's Day his family was putting together a small memorial. This is it, sad as it is.
Kind of a classy way to end your life, eh? What a waste.
And, New Year's morning, there was another drive-by shooting and this time the cops were there and exchanged gunfire with the shooters before they sped off.
Such a waste. Coincidently Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have both failed to show up lamenting and protesting this young man's senseless death.
Life goes on and joy and sorrow happen. It's a bit unsettling to have these idiotic acts of violence happen so close to home. It causes me to feel just a little less secure.
And it also reminds me of my own mortality.
Mostly, though, it just makes me sad.
It's stupid.
Regardless, even with all its warts and blemishes,
Life is good.
Hooah!!
