Renton Rally - 1/9/15

Or - Gooooooo, 'Hawks!!

This town is 'Hawks Crazy!! Just to give you a small idea of how 'Hawks Crazy they really are let's look at some of the out-of-the-ordinary, ordinary day-to-day stuff they're doing.

The newspaper has been including cut-out action figures each week (Re the Danger-Russ action figure I cut out and put together a couple days ago)

The newspaper, again, has been printing up individual banners, one-a-day, for a week. You can put them all together and they spell out "GO HAWKS".

They've had contests, picture shoots and drawings for tickets!!

For the game day, they're laying on extra Sounder Trains to the stadium!!

There will be extra runs of the Link.

They're even taking to the skies to proclaim 'The 12'.

We Are the Twelve!!

The run-around vans are all decked out with Seahawks!!

They proclaim it in front of the City Hall.

They hung banners about it from the buildings.

They even took an old bus and made it into a Fabulous Fan Bus!!

Like this . . . some of the Seattle SeaHawks' most rabid fans banded together with the goal of creating and building America's biggest and best tailgate vehicle. They purchased a 1986 British Double Decker bus, took it down to bare metal and created a shrine to the Super Bowl Champion Seattle SeaHawks!! Dubbed "The Beast" it's the biggest attraction ever to be displayed at tailgates prior to a Seahawks games.

Let's take a closer look at The Beast, shall we? It has:

Five big screen satellite fed HD TVs.

An amazing audio system featuring almost 40 speakers and 14 amplifiers, subwoofers and a state of the art wireless PA system.

A SeaHawks museum that features original Kingdome chairs, player memorabilia, numbers action photos from 1976 through the 2014 Super Bowl Championship, Vince Lombardi trophy and much more.

A Ring of Honor.

Championship banners and retired jerseys.

and . . .

A custom support trailer with a DJ Stand.

Not too shabby, eh? Plus you can party on the top deck while you enjoy the game.

And then there are the ordinary people. The fan on the street.

Now these folks are . . . well, they're fans. Carol and I went to the Super Bowl Champion Seattle SeaHawks rally at the Renton City Hall today.

Carol wore her SeaHawks scarf and I had my SeaHawks cap and scarf but I felt we were underdressed. Terribly underdressed.

You be the judge . . .

There's something on my head? Wha . . . !?!

And, on this day, 12 Flags become a normal part of everyday attire.

And, obviously, the more flags the merrier.

Whup!! Here we are!! The rally was at the Renton City Hall. Renton is where the 'Hawks practice at and so it has a special connection to the team. Right next door to the City Hall is a Sam's and the parking lot there was absolutely full. We drove around in it for about five minutes looking for a space until I got frustrated and we went elsewhere to park.

I'm sorry, they introduced these guys but, other than the SeaGals, I didn't catch any of the names. I do know this guy's last name, the guy on the left, it's Gray and he's a Sports Radio Host or something like that.

Mumble, mumble 'Hawks mumble McMumble and they're gonna mumbly mumbler.

Hahahaha, sometimes having a little bit of difficulty hearing can be a real pain. It's just a little bit, though.

What struck me was the huge number of Very Tall People at the rally and how they all seemed to find their way to directly in front of me. Amazing.

It's like the Universe is conspiring against me!!

Hahahaha, I know!! No need to say it.

The Renton Fire Department, having nothing better to do on this typically overcast, damp and cool Renton City Day, decided to stop by and see what was up.

Wassup!?!

I heard these guys were former Seattle SeaHawks and then it was mumble-mumble played mumbly mumblemumble and mumblebee.

But they were former Seattle SeaHawks!!

Mumble, mumbled the mumble-bumble. Haha, mumble that!!

Yeah, what he said!!

We've seen this guy before. Here's The Twelfth Pony, working the crowd.

Ah, I can't help it, he's cute.

I couldn't say that for all the other SeaHawks fans I saw.

The enthusiasm was high. Now, I have to mention this again because, just like at the stadium on game days, these folks, all of 'em, were unfailingly polite and accommodating. It was crowded and moving through the masses was difficult but everyone was courteous and helpful.

When I'd go to take a picture, folks would stop so that they didn't walk in front of my shot. They'd patiently move aside for us and we for them. They were fun to be with. They were happy.

And some of them were just plain odd. You'll see this guy again. the one on the right, that is.

Bartel Drugs had a long line at their booth. You could spin the wheel and win a prize but, more importantly, you could enter into a contest to win tickets to tomorrow's game.

Woo, woo!!

Whup!! There he is!!

It's Blitz!!

He's been the official mascot of The Super Bowl Champion Seattle SeaHawks since 1998.

(Note: there's another one of those annoyingly tall people I mentioned earlier. What's up ((Hahahaha)) with these guys, eh!?!)

Just another day for SeaHawks fans.

Ol' Blitz was co-hosting, silently, the rally. They had contests and drawings and give-aways throughout the whole thing.

Hahaha, no!! This would definitely NOT be an entry into an ugly sweater contest. It's a classic and, I can honestly say, if I could afford it, I'd buy it. More importantly, I'd wear it, too.

Rockin' the sweater!!

Hahaha, look!! Just walkin' 'round, carryin' his flags. And, look!! The guy on the left even has work overalls in the SeaHawks colors.

These people are Nutz over the 'Hawks!!

Oh, hey, they're getting ready to give out two tickets to tomorrow's game.

And to help they had a couple of SeaGals!!

Hahaha, they even brought in Boom!! There he is, on the left. He's the sidekick for Blitz. Boom is a younger and hipper version. You can tell he's hipper cuz he wears a cap, totally backwards because, y'know, that's how the cool and hip young kids do, Man.

Annnnnnnd, the winnah is . . . some lucky woman in the crowd!!

This is my drawing and I approve!!

And, over it all, the Renton City Fire Department kept a watchful, and bemused, eye.

Whup!! There's The Beast. Party down, Beast 'Hawks fans!!

Have you noticed all the SeaHawks Wool Hats? I swear, over half the folks had one on. And it was like no two were the same!!

I came away today wanting a SeaHawks Wool Hat.

In bright Seattle SeaHawk Blue 'N Green.

Oh, look!! Up in the sky!!

Is it a bird?

Is it a plane?

Yeah, it is!! It's a plane!!

And it's towing the giant '12' sign!!

Groovy!!

Then they had a contest to see who had traveled the furthest to be at the rally today.

The guy on the right, the one wearing the SeaHawks Varsity Jacket, is a med student from MumbleMumbly City.

Hahaha, I told you we'd see this guy again.

He was there from, and this is how he put it, 'From Seattle via Mexico.'

Even Blitz is wondering about this guy.

The large guy to the left of Seattle via Mexico said he was from Chile.

Wha . . . !?!

And the final entry in the Who Traveled the Farthest to Get Here Contest . . .

A sailor from Norfolk.

(Norfolk, a Virginia!! Norfolk, a Virginia!! Hahaha, flashback to an old but still funny joke.)

They let the crowd decide who the winner was by their noise.

How 'bout this guy?

The winner?

Hahaha, a no-brainer. As soon as he said he was in the Navy everyone in the whole place knew who would win. The Sailor.

Then they brought out some more SeaGals and, better yet, a drumline from Blue Thunder!!

When I say 'Sea', you say 'Hawks' . . . Sea . . .

And so it went. And they wuz LOUD!!

Rockin' it, Blue Thunder Style!!

Boom was rockin' it, too!!

Hahaha, this is my rally and I approve. Yes, indeedy, I do approve!!

The Sailor was such a celebrity after winning the tickets that fans were asking him to pose with them. Which one is the bigger fan?

Hahaha, here's another fan, dancing away in front of the "WE ARE 12" sign.

Finally, as so often happens with all good things, it was over.

We followed the crowd as we left but as we were going down the steps, we got to see Blue Thunder rockin' it again for the folks.

Hahaha, these guys sure do have a lot of fun.

And, look!! One of them is worried about her hearing. I often wondered if any these drummers wore ear plugs and now I know.

Smart.

Just a couple of Ordinary People out on a SeaHawks Shopping Spree.

Hahaha, we're not all that SeaHawks Crazy.

Doesn't everyone deck their refuse trucks out in SeaHawks Blue 'N Green with SeaHawks flashes and the Number 12 on them?

It was a decidedly Blue 'N Green kinda day!!

Gooooooo, 'Hawks!!

As we were leaving, I looked back for one more shot of where they held the rally.

Good job, City of Renton.

Just across from the rally was this small traveling business.

Hey, Buddy, got any SeaHawks stuff?

Seattle Silliness!!

I bet he bought that SUV because it was the closest to SeaHawks Blue as he could get!!

Two 'Hawks Flags!!

Hmmmmmm, shouldn't there be a few more!?!

     Reflected Window Selfie!!

Awwww, we're so cute!!

Hahahahahahahaha and ha!!

It was fun. It was fun being out and being with SeaHawks Fans as we all get ourselves ready for the Big Game tomorrow!!

Hahahaha, Gooooooo, 'Hawks!!

Life is good.

     Hooah!!
