The Parks - 10/15/14

Or - Groovin' On A Wednesday Afternoon...

Autumn is here and it is glorious. The mornings have been wet and overcast but the afternoons have been kick-butt. I mean they have been great. The sun breaks through and the air is crisp and cool if a wee bit damp.

I ain't complaining. I'm enjoying it. When we started out this morning, it was cloudy and their was drizzle coming down and by the afternoon, the sun was bright and clear and the air was alive. Until about 1630 when we were getting ready to go...the clouds were coming in from the southwest.

But to start off, here's some of the platoons of pigeons we have on a daily basis. The white one Carol has named Angel and has been a regular from the beginning for the pigeons. She was among the first ones to come to the Cafe Seagrove.

And then something spooked them and, whoosh!! They were gone.

Carol religiously deadheads the plants...this requires, as I understand it, that you pinch off the dying flower to allow the others to get the energy it would have used. I think that's the deal but what do I know!?! Not much.

But this deadheaded flower shows it still has a few licks left in it vis-a-vis beauty.

We made an important stop at the Dollar Tree in Tukwila and, naturally, stopped by the Southgate Mall just to look around. FYI, the Apple store was still as busy as it was when I had business there a couple weeks ago. Tres busy.

We did find yet ANOTHER SpongeBob SquarePants product!! It is truly amazing how many things are branded with this franchise. Amazing and a bit disappointing.

He's everywhere!!
When we were leaving, I ran across this license plate. It should be mine!! But, then, I am now known as Smilin' Jack, not CPT J4CK. Still, it has a certain je ne said quoi  to it, nets pas d'accord?

     Artsy-Fartsy Alert

This fits. Fallen leaves on the rain soaked asphalt.

Sehr kunstlerish, nicht wahr?
(German)

More Artsy-Fartsy stuff.

And the season caused reason we were at the park.

Haha, I snuck in a shot of my Tubby Self...wearing Carol's jacket.

I look just like I did way back in high school!!

Hahahahahaha!!

Let's get back to something a little easier on the eyes, shall we?

This is unique...a fallen leaf on the slightly damp asphalt.

Molto originale, a destra?
(Italian)

Here's a new twist, a fallen leaf with some beauty-bark AND some moss.

Oh, yeah!!

We headed out and got to stop and watch this big boy pass by.  Actually, it was just two engines and thank goodness for that.

So were tooling down the road and spotted this antique!!

It's a Corvair!! Wasn't in all that good of condition but...

A Corvair!!

For you kids, the Chevy Corvair was a compact car produced by Chevrolet for the model years, 1960-1969. It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine.

The Corvair range included a two-door coupe, convertible, four-door sedan, and four-door station wagon body styles, as well as a van, too. The Corvair range competed with imported cars such as the Volkswagen Beetle and the Ford Falcon, Plymouth Valiant and the Studebaker Lark, that were new entries in the compact car market segment that started in the U.S. with the 1950 Nash Rambler which was reintroduced in 1958 as the Rambler American.

The Corvair's legacy was affected by controversy surrounding its handling, which let to its inclusion in Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Subsequently, in 1972, Texas A&M conducted a safety commission report on the Corvair for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; ti found that the 1960-1963 Corvairs possessed no greater potential for loss of control than its contemporaries in extreme situations.

All I know about it is, from its beginning to its end, it was one butt-ugly little car.

We drove down the road alongside the airfield and I got this shot of the control tower. It's one busy little airport.

Here's the sign at the entrance that we use. That's Rainier Ave just above the sign.

And what visit to our park would be complete without a picture of the Trailer Park Marina? You can get an idea of what the weather was like when we arrived. Fresh and clean, there was a good breeze blowing.

The tall tree is the Eagle Tree. No eagle today but we did see him yesterday. Flying low over the lake and scaring the heck out of the little birds.

Mercer Island...I think they have water now.

Detail of the Trailer Park Marina.

Because I thought it was interesting, that's why.

But when you looked south you could see it was going to be a bit wet later on that evening. This shot was of the angry sky over the Boeing Plant.

Da skies, Boss!! Da skies!!

Another shot of the skies over the Boeing Plant.

Looking south down the airfield.

Last shot of the skies over Boeing.

Hey!! Because that's where the pictures were, that's why!!

     Autumn Weather Selfie!!

A very good day. We enjoy this getting out and seeing things around the area and, you know, we always find something new wherever we go. Always.

It's fun and it keeps us off the couch so it's really a Big Win-Win situation. Plus I get to take all these wonderful pictures to share with you, my loyal readers!!

Hahaha, it was hard typing that last sentence while laughing so hard.

It's good.

Life is good.

     Hooah!!
