Olla Podrida

A hodgepodge of pics and things…

Darcie sent me, out of the blue, this neat little barbecue and we've been putting it to good use. Gotta tell ya, Turkey Burgers…they're NOT where it's at.

It's edible and, OK, but, seriously, it lacks…a lot…of taste.

The tomato plants are blooming!! They're going crazy. In fact, I have one tomato already.

Not ripe yet but, hey, give it time.

Mmmmmm, tomatoes...

We might even have apples from the tree in the front yard. It never has borne fruit yet but…this might be the year.

"God didn't make, Little Green Apples and it don't rain in Indianapolis…" Whatever that means.

My Little Chickadee….

We've got scores of birds coming round now. We're becoming the IN place to go.

Carol's cousin, Adrienne, passed away unexpectedly. She was living in Ecuador and, in fact, had just built a house there. She had a massive stroke and was gone shortly after.

Carol couldn't make her burial in Canada so she remembered Adrienne with a small ceremony of her own alongside the Cedar River.

She tossed some flowers from our yard into the river.

And, we had an audience. They were hoping we were tossing something edible into the river.

We went for a walk and Carol couldn't resist…

"Look! I'm a pole dancer!"

Hahahahahaha….

The River Walk is beautiful. They do a great job of landscaping.

We saw an Osprey and a Bald Eagle but, no pictures. They were too fast for me and my little camera.

But, we also saw a Great Blue Heron and that bad boy posed for us. For a long time!!

What a ham.

Kinda cool, eh?

Yesterday was a day for dramatic skies and I tried to catch a bit of them. Not successfully but you get the idea.

We got some rain as we arrived but it quickly let up. Then it was just cloudy.

I'm working on understanding my camera. I'd focus and then it would blast out the exposure so I...

...went into it and stopped it down a bit for brightness.

Big difference.

Love the telephoto for grabbing details.

We stopped by the Renton Air Field on the way home. They have a small park by the end of the strip near Lake Washington.

Imagine our surprise and delight when we saw these two seaplanes waiting to take off.

Here's the first one...

And the second...

Stormy weather...

Rough skies over the lake...

Haha, I warned you!! I'm diddling with B&W.

A plane coming into Renton.

Clouds over Renton.

It was a good day. Getting ready for our jaunt to Cheney and then remembering Adrienne. Plus all the sights just by being there and enjoying what the world has to offer.

Hooah!!
